I wonder what that graph would look like it showed number of employees in the US ?
According to Deere’s annual reports, they had 26,900 employees in the US and Canada in 2002, vs 33,800 in 2023, for an increase of 25%.

Very surprised to find out Illinois has such little manufacturing? I wonder where all those people work? Maybe that morning traffic is all headed to Starbucks?

As for benefits, who needs em? Vacations and sick days just means you are not working, but spending money you probably don’t have, because you spent it all on medical bills since that was just another of those wasted benefits the company no longer supplies.

Thank the Lord Mississippi still has lots of openings!

Mississippi is the cheapest state in the nation for a family of two adults raising two children, with a household income of $177,798 required to live comfortably.Apr 17, 2024

You need a $178,000 to live comfortably in MS? Seriously? There’s a lot of families of 4 that could live "comfortably" in a lot of states besides MS for $178k. But I would likely agree MS would be close to the cheapest state to live in. You get what you pay for!

You can live like an NBA basketball player with that kind of change coming in around my neck of the woods. Most of my county doesn't even come close to that kind of income.

Probably about 30 years ago there was a near by Juan Ciervo plant.
Friend of mine got a job welding that lasted less than a year.
They were working overtime 7 days a week.
My friend couldn't brag enough aboot the money he was making.
Then he was unemployed.
The plant was building up inventory of FELs and other products so when they moved the manufacturing equipment to Mexico the retail side wouldn't run out of product for sale.
The building by the Highway now is just a large storage area.
Loyalty from Juan Ciervo, 00%.🤬

Mexico is becoming an industrial powerhouse due to U.S. investments. I visited Chihuahua City in 2019. It’s full of new manufacturing facilities for companies like Ford, Polaris, GE, Carrier, etc… And the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad has a direct line to the port of entry at Santa Theresa, NM. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mexico becomes a larger trade partner for the U.S. than China in 20 years. Not that I think losing U.S. industry is good, but this is what’s happening.

Could be that sucking sound Perdue was talking about in the 90s.
