After a couple of months and looking at 4 major brands, I bought a MF 1533 PS 12x12 with 1525 FEL and a Woods LR72. There is an outside shot I will have it tomorrow, if not definitely on Tuesday. In my area this tractor gave me the most for the least green. I also liked the dealer. Hopefully I will not have to see them that often though (maybe to pick up another attachement of two /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif). Got to clean out the garages tomorrow to make room for this one though.

Thanks to all of you for your help.

How does the 1533 do with that 6 foot mower? I have yet to buy a mower and will be doing so before the summers is out. I will post some pitures by the weekend. Tractor should be arriving on Tuesday.

Congrats on your purchase.

Although a GC 2310 would liekly be more than I ever need, I am considering a MF 1528 or MF 1533.

With the MF 1533 could I get your thoughts on why you chose PS 12 x 12 instead of SS or HST?

thanks

I haven't had a problem with power at all. With my 8x8 trans I mow in 4th gear low at PTO rpm (520). Most (99.9%) of my mowing is on cut grass (I think I have a pic of my place in my photos here). I have only bush cut once with it next door and to be honest it seem to do better on the tall stuff (not as thick as cut grass), but i think I was in 3rd low.

When I got the bigger mower my thought was this, I could always make the mower smaller by taking less of a cut or going slower, but I could never make a smaller mower bigger no matter what I did.

I got a RDFM72 finish mower and a RF60 Rotary both are bush hogs. The 1533 handles them with power to spare. I used my neighbors old MF205 with a Woods finish mower side discharge and if left the cuttings in a row, the new one WOW no unsightly grass clippings which my wife use to complain about.....

I liked the Power Shuttle for its ease of taking in and out of gear with out stepping on the cluch. The PS also is great for any type of bank and forth work (ie loader work). The HST would be nice, but not necessary. The convinience of the HST did not outweigh the extra price or the loss of PTO power. Just my opinion. If I was going to have many people running this machine, I would definately have chosen the HST (its idiot proof /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif).
