MF 1547 Hydro
I have just contracted on 65 acres in the Florida Panhandle with about 15-20 acres in pasture. I have been considering getting a tractor with a FEL for purposes of mowing, light clearing and maintaining the road entrance to the property. I would like to pull a 6' rotary cutter and I also know that I want 4 wheel drive. What MF tractor model would make the most sense? I have considered the Kubota line as well as NH. What transmission would you also reccommend? I am a rookie here and need some guidance. This is my first tractor and I would like to make a good decision here. Thanks in advance!

Any of the large frame compacts (1540, 1547, 1552 or 1560) can run a 6' mower. They have a good selection of transmission (8x8 synroshift, 12x12 PowerShuttle, a three-range hydro and a full powershift with PowerShuttle called a 12x12 DynaQPS). If you want a heavy-duty utility tractor at a good price you can go to the MF 400 series. They go from 52-99 horsepower with 8x2, 8x8 shuttle or an 8x12 manual transmissions. The shuttle is the best in my opinion. I personally don’t like the hydro, but there are many that do. They make to much noise and don’t allow me to operate the unit the way I want to. Having said that, the hydro will be the one most here will suggest. My personal preference is either the PowerShuttle or the DynaQPS.
