Just to counteract so many negative posts ....

I've owned and operated a number of different brands of equipment. All of them have been dead-nuts reliable and did the job. I was totally happy with all of them....and then I got my John Deere.

I have to tell you, that I get off that piece of equipment and am always impressed with the total package - ergonomics, performance, and then there's always something that surprises me.

For example, I was brush cutting some ugly 4-wing salt bushes at my place last Friday. I mean, plants that looked like they came from outer space. Buick Roadmaster size suckers that had taken over the place.

I got into a really big one (6-feet high, 4-feet wide, over 12-feet long), and about half way through it, the tractor automatically slowed down and applied more power to the PTO on the cutter. Load match had kicked in.

I'd hit a hidden bale of straw full on with the cutter. Boom...it just shredded the bale along with the salt bush, never faltered, and I never had to do anything but keep my foot on the forward pedal. After driving shuttle shift and standard transmission tractors for 30 years - what a revelation!

I'm sure all the other colors can do the same thing...but, man the grin on my face (and the look on my wife's face - absolutely priceless)...well, holy frijole Batman.... I'm sure you know what I mean.

It's just a kick to work with a piece of equipment that does more than you expect....life's too short to short change yourself.

A very wise person once told me..."The only person you're short changing when you drink cheap beer is yourself." Talk about insight......

This is so much fun to read - pardon the intrusion from an 'orange'. Sounds like we had similar experiences - for me one of the grinning moments came from digging 12" post holes near a tree. I was concerned about bogging but instead, fist-sized chunks of wood were flying out of the hole.

I got a huge surprise when I started mowing my slopes, that my trade up to a 4310 resulted in more stability, and easier hill climbing. This unit has some many traction adjustments it really improves my ability to use the tractor for different things.
