I am making a 16" backhoe Bucket for my CG 1710

Thanks Guys.
I bought my tractor used. It came with the 10” bucket. That bucket is great for trenching.
It is not good for moving much dirt or digging a decent size hole.

I was quoted $500 plus truck shipping for an 16" OEM bucket. I have about $125 in this bucket. The teeth are not cheap. I bought enough rod to make pins for my new root ripper my old bucket and my new bucket. That rod was $39. That way I can keep one pin in each and only deal with one pin to swap attachments.
I bought all the steel at the steel surplus but they charge .45 a pound.

In the end I made a quick attach, root ripper and 16” bucket for $250 I have enough steel left over for a couple other projects. That total includes the bucket teeth and the rod for the pins 3' foot 1144 TGP.

This is my post for QA and root ripper.

Your hoe bucket looks excellent!
In my opinion though, your Bxpanded thumb is way too short.

Thanks.
My new bucket is 1" 1/4 deeper than the OEM version but the teeth are longer because I used pin on 156 teeth.
The extra tooth length can contact the boom but only in its most upright position. You never dig in that position.

I think you are right about my thumb. My quick attach moves the bucket position some making the thumb short.
This post really describes it very well

I just bought the thumb I do not want to replace it. I have some ½" plate left over from the bucket build.
I wonder if I could just extend the two forks of the thumb and weld a couple Band-Aids 3/8 plate on the outside of the extensions at the union.
How far out should the thumb be or should it just contact the other teeth?

I wanted to add this incase someone searched this post. My tractor came with CB65 backhoe. They sell them with a 10" or 12" bucket but they offer a optional 16". Here is screen shot MF price book.
It does look big on a sub compact but they are a strong backhoe and made to take a bigger bucket.
