Do it! You'll never regret it. We've had a lot of very cold weather and high winds with blowing snow here in central Pa also so I can relate to your anguish. I'm using a JD 59 snow blower with a 3720 cab tractor and the wind can cause absolute havoc w/o a cab.
You can also mow grass and/or hay in cool comfort in the summer without having to worry about stinging bees. And, if you have allergies, the filtered air in the cab is icing on the cake. :D

Yep, Yep +1

Yes -I- know this, but convincing the wife is a different story.

Ask her to go outside one time when it is freezing out. You'll have a new CABBED tractor in no time!

I have trees too - bone chilling winds and blowing snow is worse:eek:

Amazingly, I have trees too :D - I also have a Jonsered 2171 that makes quick work of said trees & branches....so I make sure I can go where I need/want with no issues.

I just put a jodale perry cab on my 2520 and cant even picture or think of the 25 years that I have been cleaning snow out in the open freezing blowing cold with the assortment of snowmobile helmets, ski masks, hoods, parkas, etc...

Now I have the 2520 parked in an extra bay in the house garage and simply walk out and fire it up to warm up for 5 or 10 minutes hop in and away I go. No more 20 minutes to get bundled up and an hour to thaw out when your done. You could pretty much how in and go however your dressed. Today I was in sandles, sweat pants and tee shirt on a very cold (15 f) day but nice and sunny so a bit of greenhouse effect.

It was great and all this while listening to the radio, very fun...

Once you get a cab you'll never regret it. Do it...

The new cabs are alot easier to enter and exit than the old ones too. One of my friends has an older 3030LS (which is about the same as a 2840) with cab and you have to squeeze and climb to get into the seat. Whereas my smaller 4520 is wide open with easy entry and exit.

I keep a pole saw handy to protect my paint and cab, everything on my property is trimmed high enough to pass under with the backhoe which is taller than the tractors. I must add though that the glass is tough and smooth so that branches can bend and allow the tractor to pass in most cases. If your OS tractor has a rops up you can still wind up breaking branches or have one hit your face and neck. I would rather take a chance with the glass than my person.

While I like my OS tractor with the canopy I can use it on nice days but if the weather is bad it stays parked. The cabbed backhoe and tractor get called into action for winter work.

I bought the Heathouser for my 3320 from them on line and it was the best $500.spent I have a Femco roof so I keep comfortable when the extra 8k came up for the cab option couldn't do it.:)

I spent $200 for a Femco heat houser for my 2210, then added a spare piece of plexiglass in the back to keep out the wind. But when It's 20 below it's still too darn cold and I'm gettin too old for this, haven't seen a Minnesota winter like this in 30 years! Am SERIOUSLY thinking of inquiring about leasing a small cab tractor and snowblower the remainder of the winter. Can't buy one right now. but I am running out of room to stack all this white stuff with my FEL and may have to call in a neighbor with a snowblower but that can be risky if he runs some of my landscaping through his machine.

Agree. The snow blower is just the ticket when you are running out of room for moving snow. If you have a dozer or have a neighbor who has a dozer you can move the piles also. Sometimes even a blower won't move the snow if it is piled up too high. I had to resort to getting a neighbor with a D8 Cat to make a pass or two on my long driveway more than once when I lived in upstate NY.

Just let her go blow snow or rake hay with an open station tractor - the discussion will be a lot easier...

Yes -I- know this, but convincing the wife is a different story. Maybe if I tell her I am going to buy another tractor she will settle with me on trading one in on the cab tractor...

When my wife said I did not need a Cab tractor, I told her she was absolutely right and I would have the coffee hot when she was done blowing the snow. We went shopping for cabs that afternoon. :D :D :D
