Would it have been/is it feasable to use hydraulics to power this mower?

Thats a very unique setup that you put together there. And the fact that it works is all the better. How is the noise level when everything is working? Eh, speak up I can't hear you. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Maybe some hearing protectors might be in order.

I think it looks great.. one idea you might steal from mower conditioners and bailers.. they have a hitch pin on a swing out type of tow bar.. so when transporting the equipment rides in line behind the tractor.. when the pin is pulled.. the unit swings out to the side of the tractor.

I also like the chrome/gold type wheels. Great job! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Excellent work! Now when are you going to paint it green?

Hydraulic drive? I don't know, maybe someone will help out here. I have five gallons per minute at 2500 psi available. The mower is using 8 hp gasoline engine power now.
Noise? Not as bad as I had imagined. I always wore hearing protectors anyway. Now I can hear the 8 hp engine running, but I cannot hear the mower deck. The john Deere deck is louder.
Swing tongue. Yes, that is a good idea, and was originally planned as hydraulic-driven, so I could actively swing it in and out, depending on what I was mowing/transporting, etc. That concept seems too elaborate now, so maybe a swing tongue and remote rope affair is in order, Thanks for the idea!
Green paint! Oh, no, now it's started again. I better paint it some non-gang color like silver. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Isn't that the Yanmar gangs colors?

Unit looks great. Really the mower engine ends up being the best setup, as pto or hydraulic will put too much load on your tractor///

Where do we send our checks?

( Here's another picture. Sure is fun watching it dissappear under the trees, while I am safely out of range of those limbs. )

Not as much fun as watching 8-9' of grass disappear on each pass!

Congrats on a nice project.

Nice setup for mowing fencelines, but in my yard when I walk up to a mature tree and a limb knocks my hat off the limb is cut /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif so don't have to much trouble mowing under them. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
