Um... dried 'possum..you bet.. Usn's hillbilly's eat that all the time down here in the Ozarks. You know I saw a 'possum crawl out of a dead horse carcass one time.. and I have never longed for the taste of 'possum flesh. I have eaten groundhogs. Rabbits, Squirrels, I might eat a Raccoon, not sure on that one.. but I am gonna have to be pretty hungry to chow down on a 'possum. Oh.. no dogs or cats either (that I know of, I try to stay away from the Chinese places:shocked

About 5 years ago, we gave our daughter-in-law one these: Cabela's: Cabela's Commercial Food Dehydrators

She is a vegetarian, so my reasoning was she could buy fresh fruits and veggies locally when they are at their best and dry them for storage. It has worked well for her and she makes various dried things with it pretty much problem free. On the pricey side, but I knew she would use it.

Another food preservation technique to consider is pickling. These work well: Home Goods | Barrels, Kegs and Crocks | German Fermenting Crocks - Lehmans.com

We gave her one these about 3 years ago and she has made pickles with it. They are good for sauerkraut too. Sauerkraut and possum sausage, how could you go wrong?

What is your most likely doomsday scenario, one that does not depend on science fiction or imaginary buttons and why?

Mine is a disaster based on human behavior driven by major political upheaval. A total breakdown of civility. Brigades would form, like The Palinistas or The Pelosi Squad - pick your boogey-person of choice. The military would split into factions and expand outward from their current large bases attempting to control major swathes of territory. It would result in a civil war as people take sides with one powerful faction or another. Federal and State governments would become immaterial in the conflict. Of course Mexico and Canada would be drawn into the conflict.

This is my most likely because it is closest to where we are now.

Yeah. I read a review of the movie but they didn't tell either. Something about the old couple playing "Ring My Bell" disco song.

There is just no safe way to explain it. I guess I could do a spoiler alert......

Suffice to say it was very interesting to this discussion.

The movie sucked, but the story, I thought and think is worth beer, popcorn and SO time.

I don't watch HBO and we won't pay to download a movie. We don't really watch movies in any case. The wifey and I NEVER, and I do mean NEVER, saw a movie when dating. The only movie we have seen together in a movie theater was when we took the kids to see a Harry Potter movie. I love the HP movies, I have seen them a gazillion times, but wasting money to see a movie in a theater just ain't happening with me. The wifey and kids are out today seeing a movie only as a treat. No way is it worth $21 for tickets to see the movie when we can buy the DVD for less in a few months..... The kids will watch this movie over and over and over so it is worth buying.

I want to know what happened per the post but I am not interested enough in spending a couple of hours watching a movie. :laughing:

Dan.....Do yourself a favor and sign up for Netflix and for less than $10 a month you will have all the old and new TV series and Movies you could ever watch....We got Netflix about 6mos ago and love it..

Book of Eli is a good doomsday movie it has Danzel Washington and the cute snotty chick from that 70 show well worth a couple beers and a box of popcorn yeah definitely dont anyone tell the punch line please.

Postman is another DD scenario movie one of maybe hundreds out there for the DD aficionados among us.

FEMA would probably send all the food in one direction and all the people in another. Who knows, but it possible ineptitude could be the most deadly aspect of martial law.
