3320 John Deere
I have a really nice 2010 3320 John Deere. I mowed a crazy two acre parcel, and ran over a t-stake. My hydrostatic pump has a hole, or tear in the aluminum bottom. The hole is in the roundish part on the bottom. I hope this is a reservoir portion and not a high pressure portion of the hydrostatic pump.

Can this be aluminum or tig welded... I am looking for advise.

I take it that this is Aluminum..What is it going to take to remove this part and get it into a shop.? Aluminum must be perfectly clean. (no traces of oil) to be TIG welded back up. It will need to be inside out of the wind. It will be difficult to clean as oil will hide in the crevices of a break. I am guessing this is a rather large part of the tractor and is going to be a real pain to split and diss-assemble. Do you have insurance? maybe a trip to the dealer .

Welcome to TractorByNet!

I moved your thread to the John Deere Owning & Operating forum. :)

The outer case of the hydro can have pressures in excess of 100 psi in certain conditions. TIG welding woud be only hope of repair, but as k0ua mentioned, it will be difficult to get clean enough to weld without removing and disassembling the pump. If you are going to do that, I would install a new housing. Trying to weld without disassembly will likely result in a bad weld and also will likely contaminate the system and result in major hydro failure.

Do you have comprehensive insurance on your tractor? If so I'd suggest that you call your ins. agent.
