Hydrostatic drive and foot brakes

I have a new to me B7800 HSD Kabota tractor. I use my right foot to activate the hydrostatic drive. When I remove my right foot the tractor stops immediately. How do you use the foot brakes for steering assist when you are pulling hard? Or when you are pushing a lot of snow and you need assistance in turning?

You should have a lever that acts as cruise control. Basically locks the hydro pedal in whatever position you want. You then have the foot free to use the brake.

On my B2650 the brake pedals are on the left, makes using them for steering/traction assist very much easier. Having to use the CC would be a pain!

That is method number 1. Method number 2 is what is called the Kubota shuffle: Sit twisted sideways in the seat, With your right foot operate the hydro pedal, with your left foot make an attempt to operate the steering brakes. It ain't easy, but it can be done. Method number 1 is the better method, but some models don't have the CC lever so there is that.

Agreed.

Kubota moved the steering brake pedals from right to left on the B series for this very reason.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if that older model had CC either but still worth a try.

I do not think the B7800 has cruise control. But my B2910 does! Always used the side twist method if steering brakes were needed.

Using cruise control never once entered my mind (For me it has been a totally useless feature). Live and learn...:duh:

Method #3: Buy a tractor like my Kioti..Brakes on the left, hydro pedal(s) on the right. All good. It has Cruise Control, but it is just a switch on the dash and is not needed for brake steering. I use brake steering when working snow/ice, and when working dirt/other materiel up against a foundation or edge. Very handy.

I used to use the CC lever when I had the L3400hst, it works pretty well, but I didn't like the fact it tied up my left hand. I like to steer with my left hand and keep my right on the loader joystick. Can't do that when using CC lever, or a lot of back and forth to get the job done. Best to have the brakes on your left side, then everything works out.

My 2005 B7800 has it but the only time I ever used it was when grading a long stretch of dirt road. I've never had a reason to try the brakes for steering but remember, years ago, using them on an old John Deere working in the hay fields.
