With the Hydro Drive does anyone have a problem getting the tractor in Gear?? I have to hit the clutch a couple of times and giggle the foot pedal and it still is rough getting the tractor in gear from neutral.

Is there any adjustment?? My process is to put in the clutch and try to put the tractor in gear, then I'll let the clutch out a couple of times and then I'll leave the clutch out and I'll hit the forward and reverse and then hit the clutch and try to shift into range. Any suggestions are welcome.

My hydro does not have a clutch nor did any hydro tractors I have owned so you got me stumped on the clutch part .

My TC40DA is the only tractor I have ever had a problem with shifting hard from high or low and the dealer adjusted it and no problems since. I also found that keeping the fittings under the pedals greased good helps them find neutral easier.

Get it adjusted before it may mess up your trans , sounds like what I was doing. ....messing with the pedals to try and find neutral for a smooth shift untill I had it adjusted , she has been good to go since, good luck

I have a TC34DA purchased in 2006 which I believe is an earlier version of yours that has a similar process to get in gear sometimes. When I bought it I questioned the dealer and got a reply of "just the nature of these tractors". He let me drive a TC 31DA which is the same tractor with 3 less horsepower and it did the exact same thing.
I am not sure if some adjustments in the pedals would help or not but looks like the class II Boomers being built now may have this quirk.

All range gears in NH CUT's are straight cut spur gears. If they aren't lined up, they won't mesh, it's that simple. The Op manual for Class II's says to disengage the clutch to facilitate shifting; that does not accomplish anything because the hydro is between the clutch and range gears. Either let the tractor roll just a little if it's on a grade, or LIGHTLY tap the hydro pedal (with the clutch engaged, if equipped) to roll the driving gear a little so it will mesh with the driven range gear. Do this with the throttle at idle, and just move the hydro pedal a very, very little.

Yep, the T2220 has a clutch, supposed to use it to put the drive in gear, pto engagement and such.

Thanks Rick, Loan Oak, I'll check with the dealer next time we are in town.

Using the clutch to engage and disengage the PTO is a different thing entirely. That is an ABSOLUTE necessity.

I found moving the FEL just a touch helps shifting issues.
I believe it's due to the system pressure, so moving the loader up or down releases some of the pressure.

Is this correct to say Rick?

Hi,
I have a 2006 TC34DA and I have the same problem. I have found if I try to shift from N to Low gear with the parking Brake applyed, it will not engage. Try releasing the Parking Brake, and don't apply the Clutch, it will shift easier...Bob

Hey Rick,

We had a DX25, but no clutch on that one, of course I had to goose the hydro pedals to get her into gear or change the pto settings.

I'll talk to my service dept next time we are there, and I'll play with it when it warms up. We are at -10 right now, I blew out the whole yard and cleaned off the roof when it was 30 degrees so I've nothing to do right now.

Hey Guys,

We got up to over 40 degrees today so I had to put the blade on the back of the NH and drag the driveway. I tried something different today, I just left the clutch out and changed my gear range, it worked a lot better than trying to push in the clutch and then try to get it into a range.

I've got 10 hours on her and today was great, it was warm enough that I could take my time and play a little and get use to this tractor. I see me making up jobs to get out and work:).
