I know youve probably seen this a hundred times, but what is the easiest way to get hydraulics to a backhoe im thinking of buying? Or is it best to use the pump/reservoir off the rear pto? I will try to attach a pic of my fel control, im assuming this is the best place to rob the juice?
thanks
Doug

You need a power beyond sleeve ($20-$30 most valves )for fel valve if you don't have aux hydraulics. That's for supply, somebody with a B7100 will have to tell you where to return the flow.

Think you can get a supply from the valve underneath the front edge of the seat. Just in front of that should be the return for the FEL.

Your FEL control valve probably is already configured for power beyond, most are. If you have 7 hoses then you are.

However, I would consider the hydraulic flow rate of this 16hp tractor. You probably have around 4 gpm of hydraulic flow for implements. Is this enough to run the backhoe you are buying? Maybe, maybe not. If it's on the low side then you should go for a pto pump and reservoir.

I never owned a backhoe, so I don't know for sure, but I have some doubts about the B7100 having an adequate flow rate for the backhoe. You can certainly tap into the tractor hydraulics, as the others have mentioned, but you might want to consult a dealer. I think (could be wrong) the separate PTO powered pump and reservoir is the preferred way to go.

As always methinks Mr. Bird is correct! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I looked it up, 3gpm and the tractor weighs 1000lbs. I had no idea it was that light. I'd think the hoe weighs more than tractor.
