Ford 5000
Hello all,

New here. My tractor sat out un-used for 4 years. Water in transmission. I drained the oil, added new oil. Drained it, flushed it. Added oil again (123D). Hydraulics not good. Lift on FEL is very slow. tilt not working. 3 pt hitch slow.

I suspect the hydraulic filters, don't know where they are or how to change them. Have a repair manuel, no help.

Can any out there help or advise?

Thanks,

Brad

Can't remember if there was a filter on the 5000 or 5600. I do know on the 5000 there was a suction screen off of the pump inlet which bolted into the right side of the tranny housing. There was also an O-ring sandwiched between the tranny cover and tranny housing. When this fails you loose all of your hydraulic speed. On the 5000 this O-ring was on the right side below the directional valves. With no cab this was not to difficult to replace.

Thanks for the help all. I have dryed out the trans. I see the hydraulics are run off the rear axel. I think it is just low on oil.

I have fitted a dozerblade to the front of the tractor. the hydraulic cylinder operates from the auxiliary port for up and downward pressure from an additional valve system. At first the system worked fairly well but recently it slowed down and there seems to be a lost of pressure somewhere. The engine rev's must be increased significantly to raise the blade. I have checked oil levels and all is OK. Can it be that the "O" ring between the liftcover and gearbox/diffhousing leak,or a pressure relief valve stuck, or the hydraulic pump failure.
