Hydraulics Chatter??

I think that is what it would be called. As stated in previous posts I do alot of work on moderate to steep ground. The past couple of days when the rear of the tractor is on the down hill side the BH or FEL as well as steering chatter. I would estimate the grade where I have been working is 12 to 15 deg. from level plane. When the front is pointed down hill everything seems to be fine. The dealer had me check the hyd/trans fluid and it is right between the two marks on the stick. Anyone have any ideas what I should look for? Could it be I am pushing the limits of where I can work the machine? The dealer didn't seem to think that was the case. Thanks in advance /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I would fill it to the top line, not just between them. You're fine as long as you don't go past the farthest line.
While I'm not really sure you're starving the pump at those angles, it is a possibility.

I suspect aeration---I've had it happen a few times.
Im not sure what the pickup tubes level is or whatnot--but engineering should investigate.
Wondered if a slight overfill could help---but its pretty intermittent so I dont worry.
I have steep ground in WA state sort of by Mt Rainier.

The amount of chatter depends on what gear you are in also.

Have you tried it in a different gear?
Also when it starts to chatter raise or lower the loader.
Does the chattering go away when you do this?
Does it do it when the machine is hot as well as cold?
Remove the backhoe and try it.
Make sure that you close the valve after taking off the backhoe.

Yeah...if you don't close the valve after taking off the BH the hydraulics don't work very well at all. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I use my CK30HST a lot in steep terrain and as long as I am in low gear and high RPM I have no problem and haven't felt any chatter.

I have a similar problem as well. I have 49 hours on mine, and am hoping that when I change all the filters, and oil at 50, it might help things. It is definitely a cavitation.

I got my 30 HST from the Tractor Guy, but haven't talked with him yet about it. I am just cautious around steep hills. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I topped off the hydraulic fluid, actually it ended up about 1/8 inch over top line, and that seemed to take care of it. The pick up must be in the wrong position either by design or an error when mfg the machine. I am going to call the dealer again tomorrow and see what I should do if anything. I have a 50 hr. check up coming up in about 18 hours so I may wait and have him check it then. Also, Should I drain back to the top line. Probably less that a quart too much but I don't want to hurt it. According to the book anywhere between the lines is good. The problem was going on when the oil was right in the middle.

Could be wrong but I think the pick up is positioned wrong.

I suppose it's debatable, but I would bring it back to the top line.
Two important things can happen with overfilling:
1. The oil can start to foam, even though most modern hydro fluids have anti foaming agents, you don't want to chance the foaming as that reduces lubrication.
2. Added pressure is exerted on the seals, possibly causing them to fail.
Just let a little out at a time until your at or below that line and you should be fine.
It's possible that nothing bad would happen at that small overage, but I just wouldn't chance it. Too expensive if something does happen.
