Hydraulic ?\'s.. Attn: MadRef or someone?

Earlier I posted in the NH forum about adding TnT to a TC24DA. The more I search for info., the more questions I have. So I thought posting in a general forum, I could get a couple answers. Since I have a BH that when attached, runs of the power beyond line off the loader joystick. When the BH is off, the line is connected back to the manifold to supply the 3pth.

1.) Can I supply a 2-spool open-center valve (for TnT) from the power-beyond from loader then from the power-beyond of the TnT valve, back to the supply of the 3pth?

2.) Do I really need cylinders w/check valves?

3.) Has anyone bought from surpluscenter.com?

4.) What specs. should the valve have if I were to order one?

5.) Anyone use Prince cylinders and valves..any good?

Sorry for so many questions, it seems some of the mentioned people that sell these set-ups are too busy or out of stock. I'm thinking of buying the major components (valves, cylinders from somone who has them) and having the hoses made locally. Of course the cylinder ends and valve mounts will have to be fabbed up custom. Thanks

Yes

Yes

Yes, no problems

Open Center with Power Beyond and enough GPM to match your existing valve.

5.) Anyone use Prince cylinders and valves..any good?
Can't help on this one

Yes, all valves must be in series. Loader to aux to 3pt.

Not really, but you will be extremely disappointed if you don't have them. If you read posts here, just about everyone agrees that the check valves will give you the best result, ie. no leakdown.

I buy plenty of stuff from Surplus Center. They usually have the best prices around.

If the implement flow on your tractor is less than 5 gpm go with the 2 spool Eaton-Cessna valve with the power beyond sleeve. If your TC24 is more than 5 gpm then go with the Prince SV valve configured for what you want. I used the SV, I know of one person who is using the Eaton-Cessna with no problems and it is much smaller in size and weight.

Prince or Chief. Both are good. I usually buy Chief (made by Bailey) as they are a few dollars cheaper than Prince.

I found that is was best to wait for the correct cylinders especially to get the right check valves. Putting a not-to-spec aftermarket check valve may or may not give the best results. If you want cylinders built special then go to Bailey's at www.baileynet.com and get a couple of Chief cylinders made with the ends you want.

I put my system together with a 3-spool Prince SV valve and a CCM top link. I also have a IE/CCM side link but rarely put it on the tractor.

I don't have the TNT, but in industry we usually use double pilot check valve to keep cylinder positioned.

Re: Hydraulic ?\'s.. Attn: MadRef or someone?

I bought from Surplus Center for my toplink and have had great results. I got a generic 2 1/2"x8" cylinder with a 1 1/2" ram for $59 and a Prince double-piloted check valve for $72. I got the weld-on swivel eye ends from Tractor Supply for about $7 each and was able to get my retracted length exactly where I wanted it when I cut the ram off to weld the eye on. Have used my rig now for about 6 months(about 200 hrs.) and am very happy with it. Can't advise on the control valve, my tractor had remotes already. Be sure to extend your ram out when welding the eye on the cylinder end so you don't damage the piston.

Re: Hydraulic ?\'s.. Attn: MadRef or someone?

Thanks guys for the infomation. I'm going to probably get the cylinders from CCM, the Eaton-Cessna control from Suplus, and get the hoses locally. Thanks again.

Re: Hydraulic ?\'s.. Attn: MadRef or someone?

Send a PM to Tim, screen name 8561. He has the Eaton-Cessna on his B2410 and can probably give you some info on installation and usage. I made the custom ROPS mount for him.

Re: Hydraulic ?\'s.. Attn: MadRef or someone?

Thanks for the info 8561!

I was wondering if anyone has used the Prince SV series valve? Since it has load checks built in, and CCM is without cylinders for a while, could I use cylinders without pilot operated check valves?

Re: Hydraulic ?\'s.. Attn: MadRef or someone?

I am using the Prince SV with load checks in the work port section. Non-check valve cylinders will still leakdown. To get pilot operated check valves in the spool you have to order the SVL1CA1 work section. Load checks do not equal pilot operated check/lock functionality.

BTW, the Prince SV valve is at least twice the weight and uses a much bigger footprint (LxWxH) than the Eaton-Cessna valve.
