Hydraulic remote float doesn't float

Hello Folks, I have a TN55S with the standard 2 remote set up (adding 2 more soon). One remote has no float (I assume an 5161780) and the other is supposed to have a float mode (I also assume it is a 5180686).

I am vaguely familiar with the float idea: an extra detent in the remote is supposed to allow that circuit to 'float', typically for leveling by back dragging with a bucket. It is in the up/down circuit of the joystick for the loader.

I can feel a slight detent, but only because I am expecting one. Any ideas on how to adjust this, or repair it? There is what appears to be and adjustable screw, as well as a longer cover (vs the one that doesn't have the detent).

FWIW, my TN55S appears to be the earliest model, with the discontinued joystick assembly (first 6 months or so of this model). All the rest of the TN55-75 appear to have a different joystick assembly.

Well, figured it out. After 15 years, and doing some research on remotes and what they look like (to identify one of my remotes should have float mode), I have finally pushed through the wall of "ludicrous speed". I pushed the joystick just a little further - into the zone that felt like I was grinding gears or something. Yeah. That and my toothbar will make smoothing operations really convenient.

The 'float' remotes have a screw that can turn this feature on or off.

Glad you found it! It's like Christmas all over again, isn't it.

Be careful how you back drag. Keep the angle of the bucket so the teeth are pointing forward. Snagging the bucket on something can bend the dump cylinders instantly--Even on float.

By the way, are you a 3D printer owner? The term "ludicrous speed" is used a lot.

I'll keep that in mind. I have been back dragging with the toothbar or the bare bucket edge for years (and the back of the bucket) but never had float mode. A buddy pointed out the value of snow removal with it (tilt the bucket edge up a bit).

No 3D printer - yet. But as I understand it, it's like watching bread rise. I have a laser engraver, similar issues on large or detail (higher resolution burns).
