Does anyone know the size and stroke of the hydraulic rams that most of these little towable backhoes use...roughly??
And a really dumb question...where do I look to find out if my 2015 has a remote hydraulic system on it??

Thanks much

If you had remote hydraulics, you would have hydraulic quick couplers on the rear of your tractor. But! technically you do, on your loader valve. Detach the lines for your bucket tilt, and attach your backhoe lines there. You will have to bungie cord your joystick so the fluid is flowing constantly, and be sure you hook the lines and bungie the joystick the correct way so the fluid is flowing the right direction.

If your FEL has a PB port, add a valve is series and install QD's, and you will have remotes. You can order the valve with float, detent, or regen function.

The rams on my BH are 3 in x 18 in, but it depends on the plans you have, or, are you computing all the lengths, pivot points, etc. Each ram could be different, or all the same, based on the cyl force, thickness of the metal, etc.

Can either of you tell by pics if this Nimco valve has PB port?
It is a ML-104 loader on my 2015 HST.

On the left side-the hose goes back to area of 3pt control lever.
The 4 QDs are for FELs controls, and the 2 hoses coming out of the front go down to a "block" on the side of the motor near the bottom.

I sent email off to Nimco, but got error message back.

This is the valve I think you have.

Look at page 15 for all the letter codes for the ports.

You have seven hoses, so the looking at the second picture, the large fitting on the left is the PB. The OUT/tank hose from that valve should go to tank. Are there any stamped or raised letters on the valve?

You might have lettering like P , T, A,B,C,D, PB

This valve from another member , looks like your valve.

He thinks the number on the valve is Nimco 10373-2s.

It looks like your valve has a non adjustable relief, whereas the valve from Surplus Hydraulics has an adjustable relief built in the top of the valve.

The valve you have has a PB port and it is being used to power the 3 PH. If you are adding a valve, be sure it has a PB port as when you install it, power it from the PB port on the loader valve and then attach the PB port on your new valve to where you disconnected the PB port on the loader valve. The hyd pump powers the loader valve, the loader valve PB port powers the auxilary valve, and the auxilary valve PB port powers the 3 ph.

You guys are invaluable. Thanks so much for the direction.
I draw electrical plans, so if either of you ever has an electrical question about a home or building... please ask. If I don't know answer...I can get it for you.

Thanks Again

Ok, in order to figure out how hydraulics can work... I started drawing it all out to get it clear in my mind how to proceed with plumbing in the rear remotes.
Can either of you tell me what the 4-metal lines I've identified on the draft sketch as "unknown lines" are...and what they do ?? (I've circled the lines in question with little clouds).
When I'm done with all this reasearch...I'll clean up my drawing and and post a before adding remotes sketch and an after remotes added sketch. In case it will assist the next guy as dumb as I am about all this :D
Thanks in advance

The two lines going to the front, maybe for Power Steering, or to a hyd radiator. The two lines going to the back is probably for the 3pt. Line #2 is probably pressure line, and #1, tank/return.

Bradly,
I printed your sketch, and will hand sketch in the auxilary valve you intend to install to the rear. My problem is I don't know how to send it back to you on the computer. Also I am working my Mahindra booth at the local Home show so I am quite busy till the weekend is over. Let me know how I may get the sketch to you.

Thanks JJ
I bought that nice Service Manual... problem is a lot of the pages tell you what to take apart in what order, but very few pages tell you what the item is. I'm looking thru pages and pages and can't figure out if the Hydraulic pump is attached to the motor or back at the trans area somewhere(or in the trans itself even).

Well, I'll keep chipping away at it til it's figured out.
Thanks again for the help.

I'd just order that rear remotes kit, but before I pay $600 I'd like to know what I have on the tractor now and what is really gonna be needed. Hope that don't make me a cheap son of a gun. :)
Thanks again
Brad

I'm sorry to put you to trouble... take your time.
If you make a sketch, if you want to... you can fax it to 909-923-0858 OR if you want to drop it in the mail, my address is:

7171 Redwood Ave.,Hesperia,CA

I will send you back reimbusement $ for the letter, or the fax for sure.

Thanks for going to all the trouble trying to help me...I appreciate it very much.
I'm kind of happy cause while under the tractor trying to figure out these hyd lines, I noticed trans fluid all over the bottom of a housing, and in wiping away the dirt ,I found 2 of the housing bolts (that go thu a type of rectangle piece of steel) were real loose. I tightened them up and if it didn't stop the trans leak it slowed it WAY down. I can't wait to go out this morning and see if it actually stopped the leak.

The guy I bought tractor from couldn't figure out where it was leaking either, and it's been dripping since I owned the machine, but been getting worse. So this research has already been a win-win!

I will fax it to you on Monday, also if you haven't solved the leak, I may be of some help there also.

Bradly,
I faxed you the quick sketch on plumbing the auxillary valve. When you get an auxillary valve, make sure it has a PB port, and you will have to purchase a Power Beyond sleeve or adapter to go with it.

Thanks much Galen.
I'll get it out and study it at lunch time...I'm a visual person so diagram is only way I get some things.
Thanks again, and when I start this I'd like to check with you first to see if your shop has any of what I need for sale.
Even though I know the help was without strings...I sure appreciate it.
