Hydraulic oil leak-5065e

Noticed a slight amount of hydraulic fluid collecting on top of rear axle housing where line connects. I mean a teaspoon. I have 105 hrs on 5065e. There is an elbow connection to a bent (by design) pipe. The leakage seems to be coming from axle housing joint and not other end of elbow. There is a hex but and washer you can see in pic. Is this able to be tightened ? Is there an o-ring? Is it too little to be concerned? Thanks for advice.

Yes there is an o-ring under washer. You can try to tighten nut.

Turn nut against washer ? Counterclockwise looking down ?

Counter clockwise would loosen it.

Guys, just to be clear, and I may be confused due to inexperience, the washer is above the hex nut. And the o-ring is above washer between washer and elbow fitting-correct? So I need to turn hex nut so that it tightens against washer. That is counterclockwise looking down , right? I have not seen drawing but interpreted what Tex Jim said as o-ring above washer. Anyway, I tried to get wrench on hex nut without removing anything else and it is hard to get wrench on nut with elbow fitting there. May need to remove vertical plate under right (sitting in seat) fender to access from underneath rather than above and behind tractor seat. Any advice is much appreciated.

The o-ring is under the washer not above washer unless your photo is upside down.

Ummm..if its leaking between washer and bottom nut..the elbow needs to turn clockwise I think looking from top (counter clockwise turn on nut like you are saying.) You dont want to turn nut counterclickwise though, it will loosen nut out of assembly i think. Hold nut in place. I think the nut doesn't need tightened into assembly anymore. I have not messed with this particular part though.

The photo is not upside down. I thought the elbow had a washer on its lower end and the washer was sealing the end of elbow by compression induced by hex nut pushing up on washer. Just looking at it I figured the rear axle was penetrated by a threaded pipe probably sealed by an o-ring inserted into casing up against a machined internal flange. The elbow is rotated about 45 degrees in plan view so it can mate up to a bent pipe. In order for that to line up you must be able to rotate the elbow where it needs to be and then seal it on both ends. So I was thinking the last connection you would torque down would be the bottom of elbow. Seems to me you would thread short pipe into axle housing, thread elbow down onto pipe lining it up with bent pipe, make that joint with a coupling that pulls against the horizontal leg of elbow and then lastly snug up an o-ring on bottom leg of elbow using nut. But I don't have the drawing. If you are telling me the o-ring is indeed underneath nut then I would need to rotate clockwise looking down. Do you have joint drawing? Thanks
