MF-35
I was bush hogging yesterday with my 1964Model MF-35 diesel tractor when all of a sudden I lost hydraulic lift. The bush hog just dropped and no matter where i positioned the lift levernothing happened. I could see the lift arms where they comeout of the case move just ever so slightly. Any input to the problem?
Thanks

Do you have a loader or other hydraulic implements beside the 3pt ?

Perhaps the relief for the 3pt is stuck open. Do you; have a gage in the system to monitor hyd pressure. What all is in the hyd circuit, from pump to the 3pt?
Maybe the seals have deteriorated. Do you know if you have flow back to the 3pt?

ditto what the others said.

I'd pull the implement and operate the lift. could be an internal gasket or oring.. or the piston seal or a relief.

if that machine has inspection covers like a ford does.. open them and look for what will likely be a 3+ gpm leak from somewhere when you operate the lift.

On my MF35 there was a valve under the seat directing the flow of oil to the loader, the 3 pt or a dump trailer. First thing is to check whether there is one on this model and if it is in the right position for 3pt operation (easily pushed or kicked into a wrong position).

soulasphil:
I don'thave a loader and there is no external hoses or piping. Everything on this unit is internal.

Soundguy:
I did take the bushhog off and still no lift. The 3 point hitch arms are in the full down position.

J_J:
I have a pressure gage but I could not locate and external port to connect it to. Again, everything is internal on this tractor.

Thank you for the replys

you didn't mention whether or not it had inspection covers.

IIRC, there ARE places for a gauge. I don't have a fergy manual with me.. but I got one at home somewhere...

I agree with Soundguy. There is a test port on there somewhere.

One guy said this about a MF 35

The hydraulics run from a port next to the seat mount.

Soundguy,
First off I was wrong about the year. It is a 61 not a 64.
It has covers on the side of the axle housing. One where the dip stick is for the axle oil check and on the opposite side where the PTO lever is. The is no inspection cover on the top. Just the big cover that will take more than me to lift.

J_J,
I will look again for a port. Unfortunately I can't do that for a couple of days.

Again, thank you for the replys. This is very helpful.
