Don,

Hydraulic leak from hoses? Fittings? Gaskets?

-25F is drastic. Both Yanmar and John Deere require J20D for hydraulic fluid in extreme low temperatures.

Thx makes sense !

Are you sure it's hydraulic fluid? I've had many hydraulic leaks, but have only seen them while the equipment is running.

I've had engine oil leaks while the engine is cold though, probable a gasket gone bad.

This is a common occurrence in the Yanmar/Deere/Cub Cadets that are used below -10F. The normal hydraulic fluid gets too thick and builds up too much pressure and wants to weep out. Thus, the low viscosity formula needs to be used.

As for leaks at other times and temperatures, yes, check seals, o-rings and gaskets.

If your leaks were with the power steering, it's a typical occurrence too.
