Hydraulic Hay Spear Attachment for John Deere 870

I have a JD 870 compact utility tractor with a hay spear attached to the FEL. Wondering if there's a hydraulic spear available. Hoping to shift the weight of the heavier round bales to the back. A bit front end heavy. Thanks

There are readily available 3PH Cat 1 hay spears... is this what you're asking about or am I misreading your question?

Is your FEL spear (singular, pair or tripple?) its own attachment or bolted to a bucket?

I believe all those are 3-pt attach spears. I'd like to be able to remove the FEL and attach the spear assembly directly to the FEL mounts which will hopefully not make it as front-end heavy and still have the ability the raise, lower and tilt. And they are triples.

Does your FEL bucket detach?
Swapping the bucket for a dedicated fork-spear frame would shift weight closer to lift pins.

What size bales and how heavy?

I have a FEL 2in1 attachment (JD FEL QA System). The 'back stop' is attached to the FEL and I have the bale spears mounted via the tubular steel installation pieces. The beauty of this is that I can swap out the bale spear attachment for a pair of pallet forks.

I'm afraid it's going to be a tough find. I'll just add ballast to my tires and deal with it.

A 870 weighs 2,500lbs. Even properly blasted that's sketchy for lifting large bales. I've done it on my former L3200 (which weighs the same) with loaded rears & heavy 3pt ballast mounted way back. Never again after helping a neighbor move that load of hay.

You'd be fine with a 3pt bale spear, but that's sketchy on a loader on that small of a machine. That video shows a JD 5 series machine which is well over double the weight of a machine for a reason.
