In an effort to speed the warming of the hydraulic fluid before using my loader to clear snow, I have been running the mid and rear PTO while I let the engine warm up. I figure it can't really hurt since there's no load on the PTO, and that by engaging the PTO it circulates the hydro fluid and helps warm it up faster

Anybody out there have an idea whether or not running the PTO actually helps? Or if there's any other way to warm up the hydro fluid?

Thanks.

I don't see anything wrong with your PTO idea.

I use a pad heater like this OIL PAN HEATER KITS - JCWhitney on the bottom of the trans axle.

I try to plug it in a day or two before a storm.
