I'm due to change the hydraulic fliud in my FEL and BH very soon. I have a 1979 B6100 4WD, regular old gear transmission, subframe mounted BH (B670) and B219 FEL. These each have their own separate dedicated hydraulic systems. No 3pt hitch installed.

I see a lot of oil acronyms around here (UDT, SUDT, etc). My manual states use 10W-30 for the FEL and 10W-40 for the BH.

Am I to assume this means use regular motor oil ??? Any other tips or tricks I should be aware of?

I think the oil rec's have a lot to do with the age of that machine. i have alot of CAT equipment that specs 30w or 40w eng oil int he trannies and hyds.

Most of those specs either get updated or superceded over time ( Probably some don't ). i bet if yuo called a dealer and told him what model fel/BH you have.. assuming he would answer the question.. he'd probably tell you to use whatever the currecnt kubota oil spec was.

I know if you call a CNH dealer and ask what hydro oil to put in a 1939 ford 9N they will tell you the new 134 type oil ( aka UTF ).. etc..

Here's what my Chek-Chart manual calls for for the B6100

Transmission, differential and hydraulic system - SUDT
Front differential - 80W GL-5
Bevel gear housings - 80W GL-5
Steering gearbox - 80W or 90W GL-5

So it looks like the modern fluid they are calling for is a UTF oil in the majority of the system.
