I have an LK2554 that works great. The only problem with it seems to be hyraulic fluid that puddles on top of the shifter cover after working the tractor for awhile. Its seems to come out from around the shift lever and not the pto lever. After several hours of work the whole plate is covered and starts to drip down the sides of the transmission. I have changed the fluid and it didn't help. I bought the tractor new. It didn't seem to do it for the first year or so. Any thoughts?

Bob,
Don't know if this will help. On my LK 3054 (94 model) I was getting oil on the shifter (located on the trans.) Pulled the lower trim piece off of the dash and tightened the steering column to the steering box joint (Big channel locks /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif). That fixed my leak. Hope it helps You.

Thanks Will, that's a good tip. I hadn't thought that it
might be coming from somewhere beside around the shift. I'll check it out.

we have seen them leak from the shaft and sometimes need some seals... if you need any of the seals just let me know. I usually keep all you need instock

Did you ever get this problem fixed Bob? I'm having the same issue on my LB2204 now that I'm breaking the rebuilt engine in. After about an hour of running it up and down the hill in my back yard, it started puking oil out the shifter. It would be nice to know where to look.

Figured mine out. The vent tube was plugged up from mud dauber wasps. You can see in this photo, it's a little 1/8" NPT pipe with an S shape bend in it. This unscrews by hand. Apparently this is a common issue on these and after just a few minutes I was back in business after running a piece of wire through and then blowing it out. No more leaking shifter boot after that.
