I installed some quick coupler to my rear SCVs on my tractor and I'm getting some fluid leakage where the quick coupler screws on to the hose. What should I be using to help seal up the threads when I install the couplers? Can I use the teflon type tapes used on plumbing? Looking for something readily available.

I had trouble with one leaking threaded fitting just like you are seeing. Teflon tape did not make a long-lasting seal. I ended up using "Loctite PTFE/Anaerobic Pipe Thread Sealant For SS Threads, #567, 6-ml (.2-oz) Tube". Cost was around $4.00. McMaster-Carr is a good on-line source (www.mcmaster.com).

This stuff worked! No leaks a year after the fix. I think that there is enough sealant left in that .2 oz tube to fix a couple of dozen more hydraulic leaks.

For more discussion on this (if you want it) check the archives using the search feature. I know from experience there's plenty of posts on this topic. I have personally used liquid teflon with good success...

Good luck!
