Hi Guys,

I'm fixing some Hydraulic issues on my old 1841 Ford Tractor. As part of my work I plan on replacing my Hydraulic Fluid Filter. It's a blue spin-on filter and it is labeled FORD.

I will take a pic if necessary but the number on it is 77000?0

Anyone know what new updated part I need to get for my Hydraulic Fluid Filter now? I don't really get any hits when trying to google this Ford Filter number.

if all else fails.. have you tried the CNH parts list online.

I know the 'rtfm' advice is seldom enjoyed. but it usually pays off.

past that. find out what thread you have and then the oring seal surface diameter.. that will get you matched up on an oil filter

if it is the aux kit on the side of the center section then i'd be surprised if a fl1a or 86546614 didn't fit it.

If i had a manual to read, I would definitely read it. Unfortunately I have failed at my attempts to identify what front end loader this system is. It is an add-on to my 1841-S ...and nothing seems to give me a clue as to manufacturer or model of the loader. The hydraulic add-on system appears to be all after market. Thats why i was trying to match my numbers on the ford filter itslef. But this thing is ellusive... it must be rather old. Dare i say the original filter???

could be. can't tell you how many times i've gotten a machine and found possibly original.. or even vintage filters on them.

My allis G had a threadbare belt on it that had a part number on it from a studebaker....

ok.. so it's an unknown laoder with an unknown spin on filter/

my advice is to take it to a store like napa or car quest and simply match up any engine oil or hyd oil filter that will fit the oring seal diameter and thread pitch and go.

first one i'd try is a fl1a / fram pha8 etc.

once you get one that screws on and seal.. it will have to be better than what you had. even in not the exact application....

Looks like you have the standard 712 loader that came with the HD's. The number you are missing ? is a 4. I can check on some of my tractors later today. They might have other filter options/numbers.

Hi Kirk,

Thank you for the information. Who makes the 712 loader? I had some o-rings go bad in my hydraulic manifold where the bucket levers are located (on the right side) ...it's the triangular piece (like a heart) with 7 hydraulic lines attached to it. Finding out the exact o-ring replacement without proper information proved impossible for Messicks. -Was this loader made by Ford or someone else? Wain-Roy perhaps? Also what do you mean by the abbreviation HD's?

So if my filter number is 7700040 it looks like I can use a Fram P1654A as a replacement or 86546603 or a TRAC HF0502 or Fleetguard HF28921 ...which is recommended by you guys?

I was thinking it could be 86546603 which is a very common inexpensive hydraulic filter, but was not positive, so I kept quiet. Fleetguard is a very good substitute, and probably is the manufacturer of the New Holland part. I have a personal aversion to Fram, probably not deserved, and have no opinion on Trac filters other than they seem to be a very inexpensive line of filters, which can mean anything or nothing.

glad the guys chimed in with better info. Much better to go with an oe style than just matching up anything that will fit, when you can.
