Hydraulic fluid contamination

I don't like to mix different hydraulic/transmission fluids myself....but it that a rational fear? Many tractors have aux. hydraulic outlets front and rear for hooking up to other hydraulic equipment. In fact, our M59 was manufactured to accept standard skid steer front implements, and of course the whole skid steer and Bobcat world is always using rental equipment. Anything you rent that has hydraulics that hook up to your tractor is guaranteed to contaminate our pristine fluid with some variable amount of mystery fluid - and after we do that a few times who knows what we're running in there. And yet people don't seem to have problems from it. That's a pretty large sample size and all telling us not to worry so much.

People act as if oil is a blood type. Kubota UDT is basically JD20C. So buy that and move on. Transmissions whine less than operators. We use a UDT compatible oil and 15w40 in our kubota's for many years. Never lost an HST or an engine. We do use HST and Hydro filters from Kubota because no one can directly cross them. I will agree with anyone that filters make a difference. Just because it screws on, doesn't mean it's comparable. But for oil, they can't test to check brands. They can see the zinc and other additives and its viscosity (which is 10w30 on UDT). So it shows as a 30W. I wouldn't hook my machine up for dialysis just because I put some UDT compatible oil in it. But it's yours, and it sounds like you like your machine and respect the OEM filters and oil. So keep her original. Just don't fret over a little mistake. Just do as you said and drop the offending oil and spend your time thinking up cool stuff you can be out doing with your machine!
