I built this dump trailer a few summers ago. We had just built our house and wanted a trailer to haul in black dirt for the lawn. Worked as expected.

Nice trailer, nice work & nice saw!!
"Built like a Brick **it house" comes to mind looking at that trailer!

Yup nice trailer build, the color match I like too, only thing I would of done different is tandem axle. My material cost quess is $2,000.00....

I like it! Rear remote powered? I've been waiting to build a dump trailer for a while, but mine will have to have it's own hydraulic power source so I can dump it while hooked to my pickup.

This is awesome.

Standing by for the rest of the story/pics.

Very nice!!! Did you design the lift geometry? Looks like you have a nice big shop with some room to work and oh, jealous of your band saw. Unfortunately that would take up the rest of the room I have left in my shop. I need to expand!

Couldn't you have both with the help of quick disconnect hydraulic connections?

Use the gas/diesel/electric driven hydraulic pump when hooked up to your truck. Attach hydraulic lines to rear remotes when hooked up to the tractor.

Yes you could, but wouldn't it make more sense to just use its power all the time. The biggest advantage to that would be since mine would be electric I would have unlimited dumps on the tractor. My truck will recharge the battery, but without rewiring the tractor can't.

After all the tube was cut, I started with some pins/bushings and the spindles. I made two trailers, one to keep and one to sell which covered all of my time and materials.

Bored out some DOM and then cross drilled it with the spindle drilled for a bolt. This allows me to replace a spindle just by removing a bolt and sliding in a new one.

I started fabbin' up the axle. Built much heavier than a trailer this size ever needs...... because I can.

Just layin' things out..................

Plasma makes quick work of things.

Now to assemble the axle. A little shimming to set the camber and tow.

A little smoke and some sparks and I have two axles. I double everything to end up with two trailers, one to keep and one to sell. I went with 5K hubs and spindles as they were only a few bucks more than the next size down.

Really nice build, both in terms of your design and fabricating skills.
I'm taking notes, as I will need to do a lot of soil moving for an upcoming construction project.
Your trailer looks to be almost exactly what I had figured I'd need to get the job done.
It's going to involve several quick operations, performed when the weather is favorable, spread over several months.

What's that second axle for?
Got another build up your sleeve?

Looks great...almost looks like you know what you're doing ;)

I believe this is why he is making two of everything....
