I have a hydraulic cylinder that will not work now. It's not the hydraulic pump or pressure as the others work just fine.

It's a cylinder I had on my home made backhoe. It was working just fine until I decided to take them off and move them over to a loader I'm working on as I'm in need of a loader right now more than the backhoe. "The loader is now on the sears lawn tractor"

I guess the cylinder just doesn't want to be used on the loader. lol

I tried moving it by hand and the rod will not budge. The rod isn't bent either.

I'd upload pics of the loader but my internet connection isn't that good right now. When I get a better connection I'll get some pics uploaded.

I was gonna take pics of the progress with the loader but it's cold in the shop and I was just trying to get it together. But I'll be sure to get some pics of the finished product and a video of it in operation.

The loader arms are factory loader arms that a friend gave to me. The tag on the loader arms says "Pony Loader".

Maybe the piston nut came off and fluid is just flowing through the piston center hole.

If you are putting fluid in the cyl, it is going somewhere.

If it is a lift cylinder swap it with the other side. Did you cycle all of the air out of it?

Does it look like this one that showed up on an image search?

Pics would help a bunch.

Is it a single acting cylinder? Or da? And how are things hooked to the valve?

It is next to impossible to move a cylinder by hand. I would think if the piston nut came off, the rod would pull out though, so I am thinking that isn't it.

It's a tie rod cylinder. By tie rod I mean the kind that has the rods holding both ends of the cylinder together.

I did have the hoses disconnected when trying to move it. I did take the cylinder apart today and found some rust built up on the inside walls of the cylinder.

It's now working after I cleaned the rust out of the cylinder. Water must've gotten into the hydraulic tank. I'm gonna change the fluid.

The piston nut was still on.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll get pics of the loader and a video of it in operation soon.
