I am adding a separate hydraulic cylinder to lift the sleeve hitch on my Case GT. I'd like to use what I have on hand as much as possible to keep the costs down. I am going to mount it so that when the cylinder extends it is going straight up and down to lift the hitch. I have a cylinder that has a 5 inch stroke just like what I want but it only has a 5/8ths rod. Seems a little light to me but I tend to overbuild everything. Realistically all I will ever lift with this sleeve hitch is about 250 lbs max because that is getting to be a lot of weight hanging off of the back end. Would that cylinder work in this application?

It will probably work as long as there is no side load on the cyl shaft.
