Hydraulic connectors for log splitter

Hi, I'm new to this board and have a question hopefully someone will be able to help me. While back I build a log splitter that worked great with my previous tractor a JD 850. Was able to install a "tee" in to the pressure side of a 3point lift from there went to a valve that controls the hyd.cylinder(it has 3 detents >on-off-on<, don't know the correct name for it). The return line went from the valve in to the transmission/tank. The problem I'm wrestling with now is that my new tractor Mahindra 2015 with FEL won't drive the piston out with any force. I hooked up the pressure hose thru the "tee" to the pressure side of the manifold block and it worked only when I move the FEL controls. I switched the pressure hose in to the PB port thru a "tee" and it disappointing as well. Folks, what I need to do to make my log splitter working again? I have installed quick connectors in the tractor, have two hoses at the manifold block. Question is what I need to hookup where using what? To make this thing works. The log splitter have it own valve and two lines one pressure and one return. Any input will be much appreciated. Thank you all very much. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Valves in open center systems like the Mahindra must be connected in series not parallel. Teeing is only acceptable on the return to tank line.

By teeing into the manifold you have essentially created a parallel circuit where the fluid will flow thru both legs but will always find the path of least resistance. This is demonstrated by the fact the the splitter valve will more or less work when the FEL is activated since the path of least resistance is now thru the splitter valve and not thru the activated loader valve which is trying to push a cylinder.

Since your splitter valve does not have a power beyond port, it must be the last valve in the series circuit and should be connected similar to how a backhoe is connected in that the 3pt will be disabled when it is connected.

You should re-plumb the loader's PB line and the manifold with QD's. When you want to use the splitter valve you disconnect the loader PB line from the manifold and connect it to the splitter valve line. This will make the splitter valve the last in the circuit and disable the 3pt.
