Tractor
ford 3000 and MF35
Hi,
I recently purchased a loader from an MF35 to fit to my MF35. Loader fitted well. It's old school, but so is the tractor.

Problem is, I can't get any action on the hydraulic rams. Set up is an isolater valve installed to the top cover which I believe acts as an isolating diverter to stop oil to TPL hydraulics and send it to the twin spool valve assembly. The isolater valve has two ports available, one of which I have plugged. (I have not tried this second port yet). Received no instructions with the diverter valve. There return oil re-enters the gear box thru a plug hole in left side of the top cover. Spool valve assembly has no labels for "pressure" or "return" hose points.

Three point linkage hydraulics work fine, and still work with the new isolater valve in the "TPL" setting, which is horizontal. TPL doesn't work, as expected, when the isolater valve is set to operate the remote hydraulics which I am assuming is the the setting lever beside the port. Cannot get any movement on the FEL cylinders. Tried reversing the pressure and return hoses to the spool valve and still no action.

Any suggestions on whats gone wrong with this setup? How do I troubleshoot this safely? I am unfamiliar with hydraulic pressures but am assuming open hoses to test for flow are dangerous.

Thanks for your ideas.

Hi,

I've found the solution.

It appears that even with a diverter valve in place, the draft control lever still needs to be in the top position. Apparently this keeps the pump on constant pumping, where it would otherwise reduce its flow when not moving the TPL.

Masseys are strange in that respect. Their hydraulic system is not normal. Glad you figured it out
