Hydralics for front-end loader chatters when raising bucket...What is causing this?

I have a Ford 3000 4 cylinder tractor with a front-end loader. The hydralics chatter as I raise the bucket. What could be the problem here? Is this going to be an expensive repair? Could the repaor be tackled by a mechanically inclined do-it-yourselfer?

Have you checked for air in the hyd's.

If so, the cyl will purge any air with use, but, if you have a suction leak, you are still sucking in air. Tighten all clamps and check hoses.

There was never a 3000 built that had 4 cylinders.
If you have a 730 industrial or similar with a crankshaft driven hydraulic pump and the frame as a reservior, your filter is probably plugged and/or the short sections of suction hose are delaminated and collapsing. Or your oil level is low or the oil is of the wrong viscosity. Bottom line, your pump is cavitating and if you run it that way for a prolonged period it will be trashed.
