JD 4000 sold now a 2015 5075E
I have a 72 model JD 4000 with a single HYD remote. I have found a 4020 that I can get another HYD remote off of cheap.

My question is other than the linkages will this bolt right up to my tractor?
My tractor has a plate where the second remote goes. No linkages

Please reply with ANY info you have, on this addition.

When you search JDparts.com for 4000, the catalog it takes you to is 4000 and 4020 Tractors. Selective control valves in this catalog do not specify for only one model. So I say it will work

I assume the 4020 donor tractor is serial number 201,000 or higher. If so then it will work. The linkage should also switch over. I assume the remote you currently have is on left side. To install the remote on the right side, you need the plate from a tractor that has a remote on right side also. BE careful when removing you existing plate. There are springs and valves behind it for the three point valve. Make sure the three point is down before removal or it will suddenly drop and you will get oil bath in the process.

Is the remote self contained and just bolts up?

Will I have to take the remote insides out to remove it?


I have seen the valves and springs on a break down of the remote.

Good advise here. The SCV assembly complete with couplers will bolt right up. You probably will want to replace the two seals/quad rings at the interface.
If the donor 4020 is below s/n 201000 with hyd levers to the left of the steering column, the valves are different and won't work on your 4000.

Well It turned out the salvage tractor was a few years older than mine and the SCV were different.
If yall know of a place that has HYD SVCs for a good price let me know!
