Is 303 hyd oil a good oil to use and can galvanized pipe fittings be use in plumbing in a hyd system such as tees an elbows on the pressure side.

Are you talking about John Deere 303 oil? If yes it is a good product.

NEVER use galavanized pipe fittings for hydraulics. The galvanizing is eaten off the inside of the pipes and then plugs or destroys all of the other components in the system.

Standard schedule 40 pipe in general is not strong enough to with stand the pressure of most hydraulic systems.

example: 1/2" & 3/4' schedule 40 threaded connections are only rated to 650 PSI

I would recomend looking up spec for what you are using it in before using it. There is several different hydraulic oil uses that one is not good for other.

I second this opinion 100%, I only differ in that I have NEVER a pressure rating that high for cast plumbing fittings-they are usually stated at 150PSI or 250PSI.

Do yourself a favor...don't use these anywhere in your hydraulic system!

I got alot of antiques that use black iron fittings.. but really.. any time I repalce anything.. I remove them.. they truly aren't rated for it.. etc.

The "antiques" also use a much lower pressure than today's modern CUT's...but it's good that you replace them.

Lotsa ag pressures in the 2500 psi range. while some of my antiques ate in the 1500-1700 range.. many of them are higher.

I see lots of street 'ell' and eveb brass parts used... seen a water sphigot use too!
