Sorry, but my MX-8 is all I can rate. I like it and it is a 3ph mount on my JD5075. It's very heavy, and I must use my fel or 600lbs worth of weights up front. I have noticed, however, that it doesn't give as nice a cut as my previous mx6. I believe its because the 2 4ft cutters have a reduced blade tip speed compared to the 1 6ft cutter (something to keep in mind), I think a 10ft cutter would be a good combination for your 7040 but I would use something with a hydraulic lift that is a pull behind cutter.
