My first Husky looked a bit more like this.

Although it was the 1969 Sportsman Enduro not the MX in the pic. Chrome Moly frames typical Good Swedish steel. They had the shifter on the right rear brake on the left and kickstart on the left.

It was easy to remember the spelling for me, since it was in on the tank.

It's right on saws too.

No OEM special tools needed. Can do everything with tools you have on hand really.
Screwdriver with some grinding best puller ever. Even over stihl pricey oem one. I'm not the only one to say this. ;)
Deep well socket will will install them fine.

What saw model number? Might be a easy one or one that is little harder.

Being you said 70's it might be one that had more then just the crankseals.
Some had other seals on fly and oiler side and some just on oiler side. Depending on saw model.

Without doing a air leak test your really just guessing and throwing parts at it. Find your leak first. GL.

You are correct about finalizing the leak. Got any ideas on make shift pressure tester? I’m assuming you have to get both valves closed, then pump 5 psi in the spark plug hole. I have a harbor freight compression tester I’ll see if something will work for me. I have saws welders and tools, surely I can fabricate something. Thanks for everything thing and by the way it’s got 45 special on the cover. Maybe that will help if I really need it

Mityvac 8500 if buying. They have cheaper too. SKF

Google search info if want to make one from blood pressure type parts etc for bulb.

Really low tech but works like a charm too. Walt did this video. It will shut a saw off immediately when you spray this or starter fluid on a air leak. Like seal, intake, carb etc.

That saw has common parts that go bad on these style. Look at IPL. The little impulse grommet cracks and goes bad, intake boot too.

Common seal used. But very strange built saw though. https://www.jackssmallengines.com/jacks-parts-lookup/part/husqvarna/505275719

45 and 45 S in IPL's listed 1987-95

Not a saw I would want to put more then 50 bucks in honestly.
