Husqvarna 455 Rancher

I have a HUsky 350 I bought at lowes. Great saw. Great price. Cut down an acre of oak with it this summer, and am still cutting up the trees for firewood.

The guy I was working with had a couple of stihls that I compared to the husky. I preferred the Husqy. Both seemed to cut equally well, but the stihls had a lot more vibration - Husqys anti-vibration mounts really seem to work.

Off to cut up some more trees...

I have the 55 rancher for about 7 years great chainsaw---but today a piece of rope got wrapped up in the sprocket I tried clean it up for past couple of days--finally I decided to call husky -got a rep rite away, my question was how do I remove the clutch bearing he told he would email the pdf version ok I waited all day after several attepmts with email on their part which failed
finally got it (he sent me the operators manual ) I called back and ask for the tech again they replied that only for dealers I then ask to speak to tech.
he told me they don't do that, now am waiting to hear from a supervisor.

The support stinks

with all this said I have no time for this bull..
am going out to buy a new sthil.

I have the 359 20" and recently bought a 385xp 34". I am very happy with both. One thing I will say is that a big saw is a big help with big wood. I bought the 385xp for milling but find that I am using it more and more for bucking up fire wood. I would buy as big a saw as you can imagine your self ever needing. Even though a large saw is heavy to carry it is in many circumstances much less work to use.

They won't help you repair it because if they do and you mess up, they will be the recipients of a legal action. That is why they don't provide tech assistance to homeowners. Not saying that you will screw up, or that you are not qualified, or for that matter, you would take legal action if the saw injured you, but some people might. They just can't take that chance. Many companies are now taking that method of reducing injury claims. If a dealer does the repair and you get hurt, he has insurance. When he tried to send the PDF, it was probably squashed ....

I bought a Husky 350 last year great saw except not oiling the chain enough, have turned it up but still not oiling, think it might be the bar as it is pumping oil with the bar off. Bought it from Bailys because no dealer around here except big box stores.

well they did try to help:

a supervisor call and left me a meassage saying the clutch drum is easy to take off since I miss his call he will try calling me again to explain how to take it off. well atleast they ans the phone and try to be helpful.

The pdf version I already have it was the owners manual.

the tech manual cost big bucks it all the same go to a dealer for repair ans.
I bet all the cahinsaw company are the same way.

I did manage to get the rope out --without taking the cltuch drum off.
now I have a no start.

am not use to my chainsaw not working.
it is my fault it stopped.

I normally wouldn't recommend ANYTHING but stihl products. I have been in the lawn care/tree industry for years and I have used stihl, shindy, echo, husky. I run all stihl equipment for my business and as it has been stated time and time again hands down stihl is a name you can depend on. as far as stihl chainsaws I have a ms200t and (2) ms250's . great saws, year after year of reliable service. During the hurricanes of '04 in Florida we were swamped and I had the need for a bigger saw when cash was tight. I have lowes/home depot credit cards so I went looking automatically I dismiss home depot because I personally won't touch Echo products. So it's of to lowes first thing I grab is the 455 rancher. It seemed like a decent saw with a decompression button and 20'' bar, admittedly I was skeptical, I mean I'm a stihl guy what I'm I doing at lowes buying a chainsaw, but reluctantly I took a chance and man was I impressed, Power for days, easy start, virtually vibration free, in fact it may have less vibration than the older ms250's I have. I have had this saw on the job since then with no major problems what so ever, I think one primer bulb and a few air filters. The ONLY drawback about the 455 rancher in my opinion is that it does tend to lose chain adjustment more often than the stihl saws I've used. My friend has the ms310 farm boss and we have ran/cut with them side by side and we were both very impressed with the performance of the 455 rancher. I wouldn't call it better than stihl but definitely a great saw for the $$

I have a 350 as well and I will not top off the gas but will the oil, that way I know the chain won't go dry
