For those of us near the Gulf coast at the Mississippi Alabama border, better keep an eye on this one.
Doesn't look like you'll be golfing on Tuesday :2cents:.

Another Katrina?!
Hopefully not. I just checked the Weather Channel right after I prepared lunch for my Wife and Son.The report stated that this Storm may reach Cat 2 after it enters the Gulf and just before it reaches landfall. Best wishes to everyone in its path.

Most of us who have lived in the area a long time are not expecting much from this storm. Just a little rain and some wind. Before Katrina, a category 1 hurricane barely made headlines here, but now officials are taking so many precautions that schools will be closed for 3 days and mandatory evacuations are being ordered in all low lying areas.

This puts many people out of work for 3 to 7 days causing hardships on many and hopefully, unnecessarily. If we get 2 or 3 false alarms like we did right before Katrina then people will again be too broke to evacuate before the big one and also be lulled into a false state of security realizing that nothing happened the last few times they evacuated.

It's too early to tell but from my recollections, a storm like this usually hits the mouth of the Mississippi River and then turns east and makes landfall in Mississippi causing little damage in the New Orleans area. We get the worst of the storm if it hits west of us. If I'm wrong, I may not be posting again for a while.

My parents are getting some much needed rain from Isaac.

Hopefully, Isaac does not gain much strength, and heads into the mid west to drop some much needed rain in that part of the country.

The storm track really headed more to the west over night.

Later,
Dan

Having lived most of my life on the Texas gulf coast it is hard to get excited over a catagory 1 or 2 storm. Now that it looks like its heading to New Orleans on the 7year anv. of Katrina I can see the new groups wiping it up into a much bigger deal that it should be.

Stay safe, Dudley! Flooding is probably going to be your biggest concern with 15-18 inches dumped today. I suspect the pumps will be busy keeping everyone dry down there.
