Thanks all!

So, for now, I've gotten less-expensive quartz heaters to plug into the 110 outlet, $70 each.
One window AC unit I found on Craigslist which a friend of mine actually had listed, $50.
I will get another window unit probably this spring, as I find another 'special'.

As we see we're using the place more, I like the idea of the mini split ductless units, and am looking into those. I see them at Lowe's for $800-2,000, does that sound right?

Here's a pic of the house (before I've cleaned up around it!). About 1300 sq ft, built in the 1920s of solid heart of pine. Was my Great Aunt's home at one time. The place was a complete mess when I got, left in bankruptcy and people had torn out the kitchen cabinets and bath vanities. Crap, literally, everywhere.

The other picture is of the adjacent barn. On a poultry farm it is what is known as a 'dry stack', for the manure and composting dead birds. After getting the house 'livable' this month, we're moving on to enclosing a section of the barn to lock up tools, ATV, etc.
I will post more on that as we move on, because I am looking for advice on that as well.

The property also came with three 40x500 poultry houses. I have sold off almost all of the poultry equipment inside, the grain bins and have left 90kw generator and the houses to be demolished. Another project I am looking to contract out.

You really have something to work with there! Lotsa possibilities. Are you sure you want to demo any of that before you know what your overall plans are?

Haha, I am only demoing the poultry houses (20,000 sq ft each), I don't need that space! But, a couple of friends have said to me I should keep at least one, "you never know". I can't imagine myself needing 20,000 sq ft of storage space. My son says one would make a great shooting range. No. There's about $5-7,000+ of good tin on each house. They are good shape though.

The barn itself is 6,000 sq ft, I can't imagine using all of that right now. I've only had a 12x36 barn the past few years, so this barn is a taj mahal to me.

Sounds like a good practical way to start.

Baseboard heaters,
the lowest cost at installation, fairly effective but slower at heat up when from cold.
Quartz is faster and more efficient' but costlier at installation.
Fastest 'instant heat' is probably propane.

Since this is a camp or cabin, wood stove for 'instant heat' with baseboards for prolonged heat would be my suggestion.
Find a good old fashioned cast iron box stove for that 'instant' and poke some new styled double lined chimney pipes up thru the existing roof holes. Just be sure to respect distances from combustibles and lay some ceramic tiles under the box stove, (like 4' X 4')*
If close to a wall then a metal plate on 1" spacers so as not to cook the walls.( bathroom tiles glued to wall also passes code)

*tiles need not be cemented, actually could be held in place with 1/4 round molding as intent is to prevent embers from igniting the flooring.

I agree with coobie and the ceramic plate LP heater. We recently bought a 12x26 pre-fab hunting cabin that we rent to hunters. I added a bathroom, shower, kitchenette and heat. I started out with a few different electric heaters but quickly found out they just didnt have the BTU's to heat the cabin when it got below freezing outside.
We kicked around the idea of a woodstove but we were concerned that a novice woodstove user could easily burn down the cabin rather quickly. So we finally went with a 12,000BTU Kozy World LP wall mounted heater. It works great and no worries of the place burning down.

Where did you find that pre-fab cabin? Looks great! I may need to have one delivered for an in-law suite or for when my wife kicks me out. Much nicer than a dog house!

Actually not too far from you. Depending on where you live in Va. Tri State Gazebo. I bought it just how you see it on the outside. They did insulate the floor but i did the rest on the inside which was just adding water, electric,a bathroom and insulation with bead board on the ceiling.
I mostly rent it to hunters in the fall but my kids also use it a good bit with sleep overs and birthday parties. You are welcome to come check it out before you buy one if you would like.
