Ok I'll join in. I made the mistake last spring of lifting a boulder that was probably above the tractor's capabilities in order to move it off a trail on some land I owned. As I drove forward to move it off the trail, the front left tire ran up a bank and the tractor rolled on its side. I didn't react fast enough to drop the bucket, which may have stopped the roll. Thankfully it all happened very slowly and I had time to hop off and out of the way. ROPS do work.

Good time to inspect the underside. lol.
Sorry could not resist an opportunity to see the positive side of the situation.

I thought the tractors do this themselves every ten years or so. This way they can rest comfortably for a change. I know that's what mine does. I got mad at first until I talked to her and it all made sense.

They say the human animal is the most stupid of new borns! Maybe we never get much beyond that. Our Egos only like to think so.

For one reason or another, I am always observing my actions and reactions. It amazes me how when an accident happens, the immediate reponse is to blame someone or something else and try to figure out a way to get someone else to pay for my mistake. It is so dam hard to come to grips with having to pay for ones mistake, especially if one has grown up with materialistic values and has finite monetary resourses. Of course, I don't act on these feelings but I do find them revealing and distrurbing.

I do see this fault in people I know and society in general. Too many lawyers make a living from this!

I met a guy last week who cut of a couple of fingers with a wobble blade in a table saw. Just a stupid moment of inattention that will hurt him for the rest of his life. I find myself pretty safety conscious, but ****, it really seems that most of my accidents just seem to come out of nowhere and totally blindside me.

Tractor-wise, I'm minor league. Backed into my car's license plate with the ballast box, creasing it but not really damaging the car.

My all-time record was when I had my Triumph [motorcycle] on a paddock stand in the driveway. My Suzuki V-Strom with aluminum saddle bags was nearby. I pushed the Triumph forward and one wheel went into a hole in the driveway. The bike fell over, and fell into the corner of the gas tank on the side of the saddle bag of the V-Strom. This creased the gas tank irreparably, and knocked over the V-Strom. The V-Strom fell on the other side, deforming the saddle bag. So I did around $500 damage in three seconds.....

Seems like there are mostly Harley doods on this site, so a V-Strom is an "Adventure Touring" bike, supposedly capable of on and off road performance. Here it is the second day I owned it.

All of us will make mistakes if we are out there and doing things. But, it is not always easy to share them, and we
remember them all our lives.

I once lost a FEL load going downhill forward, after forgetting I was in 2WD. The load (furniture) got
smashed, but no one (and no tractor) got hurt.

I have caused damage twice with my tractor while working in the rain. No excuses; had to do it.

Fell over twice on my streetbike trying to get out of a parking lot that was unexpectedly covered
with water and mud. Had to pay a guy to help lift it up. 30+ years ago, but I remember it like it was
yesterday. No injuries/no damage.

Sorry, but your picture made me laugh.

When I was 16, I bought a brand new Suzuki GT185. It was a 2 stroke street bike. I had never ridden a motorcycle before.

The dealer gave me a few "lessons" in the parking lot and off I went. A few miles away there was a gravel lot and I went in to do some donuts. I fell and busted the right front turn signal light.

So, back to the dealer to buy a replacement.

I got home and never told my mom.

I have lived long enough to make a ton of mistakes. You guys talking about chain saws made me remember this one. My wife and I were cutting up limb wood for the stove. She would grab a limb and rest it on a saw horse. I would cut off pieces that fell into a cart and she would slide the limb forward. Pretty soon I ran out of fuel, I went and got the can out of the shed and gassed up. Off we go again. The saw started acting funny and running real hot then just stopped as I was thinking about it. Seized up solid. I said " huh, wonder what happened." Wife said " Is that because you put lawn mower gas in ? I didn't say anything because I thought you knew what you were doing." Well Duh.
