I'm going to look at a 1970 Huber M-500 road maintainer tomorrow morning. Owner claims all is good except it needs a new master cylinder. I am planning to use it to maintain about 2 miles of clay road. The road is in decent shape and I currently maintain the bad spots with my Branson 4220i but I lack the power or weight to do any real scraping with my box blade. Assuming the Huber is in good mechanical condition as the owner states, does anyone see any issues using it as described? I mean, it is a "road maintainer" right? Anything I should be on the lookout for? From all I've read, the 4 cylinder gas engines are stone simple and dead reliable and the unit itself should be pretty simple and easy to maintain. Any tips or advice are greatly appreciated.

Tom,

I stumbled onto your other thread first and made a reply there. Wasn't sure what a M-500 Road Maintainer was exactly.

If it's a self propelled road grader, you might try posting this question on Heavy Equipment Forums. There are some very knowledgeable members on there in regards to all types of dirt moving equipment and road maintenance equipment. :)
