hello folks,
Well today brought a slight panic when I was trying to start the ole L3400..
truthfully she ain't that old---only 140 hours....

Let me set the picture for ya.
it just about dark, I was on the tractor wanting to use it to pull by small cargo trailer from the back of the new house to where it would be easier to hook up to the truck. This is at our new house(still under construction), in the mountains of NC, and it was chilly for this time of year-- 45-48 degrees... when it gets dark there it gets dark fast!!!!

and it would not crank..
For 10 min I could not figure it out..
Then I rocked the HST pedal and VRMM....

So I wonder is this common?
I remember some other thread with a note like this, but I can't find it...

Ideas? thoughts???

Thanks,
jim

It's common on the B7800 model. You could have gotten a twig, stick or something else keeping the pedal from coming to dead center. If it never happens again then that may have been what happened. If it does happen again then check it out thoroughly and lubricate.

On my B7800 I need to insure the petal moves freely - lubricate it - and blow the linkage clean when I start to have this problem.

Quite a few threads / posts here about this very thing.

Yes, it's a safety switch. Starting with the HST peddle down is like starting in gear with the clutch out.

Safety switches are typically on the clutch, hst, mid pro and rear pto. Some add one on the seat too.

If the tractor is just dead, no sound when key is turned, it is probably one of those.
