Any votes for a sticky that has some HP/Ft or HP/Inch numbers? Seems like it would be a pretty useful attachment thread?

I have often heard 1HP/Inch of moldboard for plows? (Pto or drawbar hp of course)
Just saw a field cultivator thread that suggested 3.5hp/ft drawbar.

Any other helpful rules of thumb?

The link I provided in the referenced thread provides guidelines for other implements: http://archive.lib.msu.edu/DMC/Ag.%20Ext.%202007-Chelsie/PDF/e1152.pdf. For example, the listed requirements for drawbar HP per foot of moldboard width at 8" plowing depths are 5.4 in sandy soils, 9.0 in loam soils, and 12.6 in clay loam soils.

The ag.engineers and ag. economists at the various land grants have published a lot of useful info on machinery and machinery economics.
