I just got a Howse Bush Hog. How do I disconnect the PTO? It does not have spring loaded pin like my old King Kutter.

There are a few different styles out there. Some have a collar that you have to pull back before it will slide off the PTO, some you have to twist and then pull it off.

KWentling is probably correct, but it wouldn't hurt to get a picture to post.
BTW, did you get a manual with that Howse? Does it tell you anything other then just disconnecting the PTO Drive shaft (that is, more desciption?)

If it has a plastic collar slide it back toward the mower. This will let the balls release from the groove.

My modern ag has the collar you pull back, but it had been sitting on the lot and it was very hard to release . After some use and grease it works as it should now. :) If yours sat outside it could also have this problem.

We have an older Howse rotary. It has a push pin that has to be depressed that acts like the spring collar that is on my JD MX6.

Yeah...Robcounts (the OP) had that type on his previous cutter, so he knows about the spring loaded pin release.
But that's not what he has on his Howse.
Shouldn't be a surprise though. The implements manufacturers buy the drive shafts and likely don't specify a release type.

I have a Howse also and on mine it has a yellow plastic collar at both ends, while standing over the PTO shaft, i turn it left and pull. here is a pic of a parts diagram for the rest of the cutter in case it is of any help with other things.

Mine rotates counter-clockwise to release the pto shaft. It's bad about rusting if you leave it out in the weather so I have to keep it well greased. Howse likely used many different types on their rotary mowers, they just put on whatever the Chinese shipped them that week.
