By the look of the auctions down south I'd have to say business is down or has shifted to different equipment. Up here it's slow as usual in the summer but winter is supposed to be real busy. All depends on how high the price of oil is. Exploration is down but big scale mining is up so there's lots of clearing.
Business has been steady but no real big jobs. I'm down some over last year and of course, repairs are costing a fortune but there is still some work. Fall/Winter is usually good for mulching and road work. Summer always seems to be my slow time with the hit and miss big jobs. I am usually real busy in the winter so I'm getting ready for a lot of bids this fall. Overall, I don't like the way things look but there is work out there.
We have been fortunate. Had enough mid size jobs come in to keep us behind all summer. Things are shifting directions and you have got to be willing to expand your horizons in order to stay busy.
We have been truly blessed. 2011 was a banner year for us and 2012 is running way ahead of last year. We thank all the TBN members for their support and promise to keep expanding new and used inventory and continue to add products to our new E-Commerce website. Ken Sweet
It was ok for me but sold head and am doing road and field edge trimming/cutting. Looks to be great business as people find out what it will do and how reasonable it is. Hunting property owners main customers right now.
I've had a great year as far as driveway, parking lot and private road work goes. Brush hog work was way down last spring and this summer. I'm just getting into mulching so wish me luck!
Massy Furgason 396, ASV-100 with Cimaf, D9H(Frankenstien), D9G(Rusty), D6D(troublemaker), and JD 6420P :)
just finished a 1200 acre job, had both D9s rolling with no break downs, had the D8K and D8R raking the bigger stuff and had 3 D6s Running full time. really wish people down here could understand that mulching is better than clearing with a V blade or dirt blade, smallest job was 5 acres with a D6C, would have looked alot better if mulched, ran for 120 an hour, only charge 150 for mulching, he spent way to much on dozer clearing, but im not complaneing!
