Hello Folks,
My name is Bob and I'm a new member to this forum and a newbee tractor owner. I live on twenty acres that I recently purchased and needed something more capable of keeping the grass mowed(roughly 13 acres), other then the riding mower that came with the property. Being a city boy, I've wrenched on a lot of cars, trucks and motorcycles but do not have any real experience with tractors. After thinking about it, and seeking advice from other friends with more experience maintaining acreage, I came to the conclusion that a small tractor is what I needed. Considering financial restraints of buying new, I was able to find what I considered a good buy on a package deal and purchased two tractors and one 4' bush hog attachment.
The main tractor for work is a Kubota BX 2230 with about 1835 hours. The second tractor I went ahead and bought with the idea of restoring it as a hobby project. It is a 1939 Ford 9N. The Kubota runs good and The Ford will take some tinkering to get running since it sat for the past couple of years. It turns over but will not start. I believe the initial is problem is rusted gas tank and a carb rebuild to start with.
I know I have a lot to learn about the care, operating and maintenance of this new to me equipment. If my questions seem dumb and remedial at first please bear with me since my knowledge base on these tractors is basic. I'm a quick learner and have never had a problem figuring things out as I go. All of your help, information and guidance will be greatly appreciated.
