I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Bill Mattocks, and I've just reawakened a long-dormant interest in vintage tractors. Never owned one, never driven a tractor, but they sure are neat.

I guess what did the trick for me was a parade I attended last weekend. I put the photos on my Flickr account, and here's the link if anyone wants to see them:

Here's the whole shebang, which was the Vermontville Maple Syrup Festival in Vermontville, Michigan:

Hope you enjoy the photos, and I look forward to being a member here.

Best Regards,

I like the last shot of an old steel-wheel Deere - the guy got some rubber treads onto the wheels so he could run it in parades, I guess. Never seen that before, pretty clever. That old iron probably only looked that good in it's first week of service, and NEVER been washed so often as lately! Thanks.

Bill,

Welcome aboard!!

I never knew I had a love for tractors until I bought some land. Before then, it was just another tool that I needed. Now I find myself browsing through the forums and reading about other peoples antique tractors, wishing I had one of my own.

I have no idea when I'll get one, but I'm looking forward to that day.

You can also get polyurethane 'parade cleats' for steel/ iron wheeled tractors that use bolt on cleats or paddles.

All the antique magazines advertise them.
