How would I feel?

I would not be concerned about them connecting the tiller.

I would be bothered about the extensive delay (6 weeks).

One thing that I've not seen mentioned is this: Did you compare the "before and after" number of hours on the BX? I would be very concerned if your machine accumulated a few hours during its 6-week stay. After all, it would make a nice customer demo machine.

Didn't the dealer offer to bring the tractor back to his house instead of holding it while waiting for the part? I don't think you can now blame the dealer for holding it for 6 weeks.

( I guess my Kubota with 8000 hours on it that has never been under cover or washed (other than by the rain) really feels neglected /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif )

That is your choice! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. I'd call the BBB and maybe even the Attorney General and file a formal complaint against the dealership! Maybe I should use their hitch on their vehicle to size a trailer for my brothers boat! Please!

( .... I am honest with how I would feel on this matter. )

Me too!

Call the BBB, come on they only hooked it up to cut the shaft. It would be different if they actually used your tractor to demo the tiller, then I might be a bit ticked off. A 50" tiller is not too big for the BX, I run one just fine on my BX.

Well, I cannot explain your wait for parts. I have been able to obtain all filters and consumable items over the shelf at my well stocked long time Kubota dealer. When my BX had a warranty issue he came to my house and fixed the leaking tank and sender. My 2410 has never required anything but oil and filters--consumables and after the early warranty issue on the BX the same for it--TOTAL RELIABILITY.
I always wonder why I never have problems with mechanical things and other people with the same "things" have all sorts of problems. Is it my Karma, my 3 invisible crow friends or is it that I am a mechanic and don't freak out everytime I hear a little squeak or funny noise or is it that years of being around mechanical things perhaps I speak their lanquage--I don't know. Some people could kill a rock /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, like my brother. If he uses something I can count on it needing major repair /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. My father is not much better. I just rarely have serious problems with machines.
When I let my dealer service my 2410 cuz I was busy out of town and I wanted the unit ready to go when I got back he did an excellent and fair job. He even added some bucket hooks at my request and it looks like the guy who did it sighted them in with a laser--perfect workmanship.
All dealers are different, there are good and bad in all sorts. If you are not being treated right you did good to go somewhere else. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. When someone buys an expensive thing like a tractor you deserve fair treatment. You also have to remember, these places are a buisness and they must make a profit. A few dollars this way or that is not going to put me in the poor house and if it helps me maintain a good feeling with the dealer/mechanic I think it is worth it. On the other hand, there is no reason to put up with bad attitudes or gouging. Good luck. J

Charging shop charges for warranty work? Dont pay that. Kubota should eat that along with all other warranty expenses.
Using your tractor as a ginny pig? I have two problems with this. The first being that they had one of their tractors on the lot they could have used. If they didnt have one of their own, I could see them using yours. The second issue with them using yours is they should have asked first. Thats really what it comes down to for me. They should have asked.
Sitting outside? Thats a tough one. I dont let mine sit outside but my dealers tractors all sit outside. Mine probably did before I got my hands on it. Its at the dealers right now getting a backhoe put on it and its probably been sitting outside for a few days now. I think that over the life of the tractor, sitting outside will effect it but for short periods of time, even up to months, its not a big deal.
Parts backorder? The dealer should have checked on parts availability before taking your tractor. My dealer had to order the BH. He didnt know exactly how long it would take so I kept the tractor until he got the BH, then he got the tractor.
Saving up warranty repairs? What kind of crap is that. If something is wrong with it, its Kubotas responsibility to fix it in a timely manner, period. You shouldnt have to put up with leaks, things not working, bad paint, etc. on a tractor that is in warranty. Waiting on parts is an understandable delay, but waiting for it to be convenient for the dealer isnt.
Darn, I sound harsh but pour customer service is a pet peeve of mine.

Edit: I just reread that it was your call for them to keep the tractor. If so, then there isnt much you can say about it sitting outside for 6 weeks and there isnt much you can say about how long they had it waiting for parts. Thats all on you.

How do you know they didn't!? They had no business using his tractor for any reason especially without his prior consent!

/ How would you feel? #28
I personally wouldn't care if they used my tractor to fit a shaft as long as they didn't use it. Waiting 6 weeks for a sender is Bullsh-t. I would have gotten my tractor back home and had them send me the part. I would have replaced it myself. They could have taken a part off another tractor to fix yours. I have seen car dealers do this.

( The delivery guy handed me a bill and guess what, there's a charge on my bill for "misshopsupplies $3.38". Seems they charge for small things like shop towels and cleaning supplies.)

Your point being? Why would they have to spend the money for your service call?

/ How would you feel? #30
You were not supposed to see that, and they charged you for shop towels. I would have been up there the next day with the bill, and a list of friends that would NOT be sent to him next time they wanted a part, or a tractor. What a crock!

Kind of like me charging for floppy disks that I used in working on a computer.

There are no less than 4 dealers in my area, I would bet they call around for parts all the time. I would not feel good about my machine in the weather for that much time, nor would I feel good about them using it without my knowledge......even for measuring.

/ How would you feel? #32
SOME people wonder why dealers are charging more and more. I don't.........

/ How would you feel? #33
if the warrenty covers parts and labor why would they send a bill? i'd ditch the dealer for sure! 6 weeks i think you should charge them, it's not a reasonable time to be without machine. Like i said before i will never have another kubota, parts delivery sucks. im glad i wen't back to atrusted american brand even though they don't make them they know as americans we demand good service, that means prompt parts delivery.any part i orderd from massey has been within 5-7 days.

My dealer, German-Bliss Equipment Princeville Illinois, is approximately 40mi away and not only did they pick up and deliver my tractor for free while working on it, they kept it indoors and gave me a "loaner" unit to use the week they had mine!!

I would like to answer a few question and reply to a few comments. First off thanks for all the comments...so many veterans out there, I feel privileged.

I was not charged for warranty work. I ask them to change the air filter while it was in the shop. I commented on the "misc shop supplies" in humor...wondering if other peoples equipment was considered "misc shop supplies" /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I did pay the bill.

I did ask to wait for the part to come in.

I assumed it was implied my tractor was there for repairs not their use. I would have let them if they had ask, and no the tractor was not damaged.

I don't believe the Fed-X guy just happened to show up.

My tractor is home....inside. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree, your tractor should never be used for anything other than why it's there. They had to operate your tractor to hook that implement up. I leaves you to wonder what else they might have done with it for their convinience. They treated your tractor as if it was theirs and I have a problem with that.

That makes two of us! Sheesh! How gullable do they think you are? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh baloney, here we go again. You must not have read the part where it was his choice to leave the tractor /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. The tractor was operable with the broken sender. He should have taken it back until the sender was available. Don't buy a Kubota /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, no skin off my back, no profit being made by me. Why do you need so many parts for it (the MF)? I never needed any parts for my Kubota, sounds like that MF is a bit unreliable, to bad /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.
Well, There are many people satisfied with their Japanese Kubotas and hopefully you will be satisfied with your Japanese made MF (Iseki?) for many years to come, MF out sources a fine machine I am sure /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. J

I loved the Deere Yellow/Green Team vs. Kubota Orange Team Debate a while back, but I think that the Massey Ferguson Red vs. Kubota Orange is shaping up to be an even better battle. I'm off to the kitchen to get cookies and milk to sit this one out and watch the paint chips fly! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Scheduled Debates
1.... Who's bolts are better .
2.... Who has thicker metal on fender
3....Who has better paint
4....Who has prettier decals
5....Who has better tire tread design
other events to be scheduled by combatants as required. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I guess they could have taken your BX back outside, brought in another tractor and did the PTO shaft measuring, but that puts your Bota back outside.

The shop charges are pretty standard these days. There's a lot of EPA disposal laws and it's added onto invoices in a numver of ways, such as shop supplies.

I wouldn't have a problem with them using my tractor as they did, but if they demo'd or used my tractor to ah, tractor then I'd want payment for services rendered.

tres crows i never asked to wait 8 weeks for a sendr, witch on my hills the tank leaked like a sive even half full. and the parts i got for the massey were ad ons like valves for rear. caps and hoses fillters they had in stock like they should. kubota oders on filters and wait for them . the kubota was breaking ****! Ive been on and around tractors all my life and thats the worst ive seen for parts on a new machine so i gess it is skin of you back if you feel im lieng say it strait. so balony my ****. its not gone for nothing! i lost money on that piece of crap. i didn't trade for the color,im glad you love yours but i didnT so accept it,and go play with a plane. And by the way if you read my post i know where there made and by who the in tention was the compony was american long before the imports. massey dealer was in bussness for 40 yrs. kubota showed up in the 70s,i remember the massey guy when i was a kid.
