I was checking my fence lines and found a few brace wires that are a bit loose. I'd like to tighten them but the twitch sticks are too long and get caught up in the fencing mesh. Any tricks for how to deal with this?

Take the stick out and put in one of these.

Use short bar & pipe or combination wrench.

I was taught a method many years ago that avoided the use of sticks. Instead of putting sticks through the wires and twisting, I use my fencing pliers and grab the two parallel wires and pinch them together, side by side. Then I take thin, smooth wire (like what is used for rebar or electric fencing, whatever is handy), and make several wraps around the two wires, thus holding them together.

Depending on how tight the brace wires are when I start, I can place multiple loops around the wire to get it to the desired tension.

It's really simpler than what I'm describing - I'll try to make a sketch and post it.

Good luck and take care.
